Kansas City, MO — A woman was hit and killed after exiting her vehicle on the side of Interstate 435 following a collision that just occurred, the St. Louis-Dispatch reports.
Police report, Heather Fitzgerald‘s car had just collided with a truck when traveling northbound on Interstate 435 leaving her stranded on the side of the road. The 40-year-old woman exited her vehicle and was struck by a separate SUV traveling down the interstate. The SUV tried to avoid Fitzgerald, but hit both her and her vehicle.
Officials pronounced Fitzgerald dead at the scene.
Police say the driver of the SUV that hit Fitzgerald was released. This accident is pending further investigation any new details will be added to the story accordingly.
