If you are one of about 15,000 Americans who have supported sustainability by investing in a 20-ounce Yeti Rambler travel mug with a Stronghold Lid, you may need a replacement. Yeti has announced that the popular reusable mugs have been recalled due to a potential for the magnetic slider to fail and cause the lid to unexpectedly pop open, subjecting users to risk of spills and burns.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Yeti has received two reports of spills due to failure of the lids. No injuries have been reported to-date. Still, the company is taking no chances and has asked consumers to stop using the mugs immediately.
Affected Yeti Rambler travel mugs with Stronghold Lids were sold online and in Yeti stores during October 2020 for about $35 each.
About 241,500 of the mugs were produced, but the recall only affects those with date code 342040010. The date code can be found on the base of the mug inside the rim. They can also be identified by SKU numbers, a list of which can be found on the CPSC website here. Colors include copper, graphite, northwoods green, ice pink, navy, black, and seafoam.
