A police chase ended in a crash that killed three people in Wentzville Monday.
State Highway Patrol attempted to apprehend a vehicle that was overspeeding on Highway 61. Instead of stopping, the vehicle tried to flee the area. Authorities continued to monitor the situation and assigned local officers to stay with the vehicle. The chase eventually ended when the vehicle veered off the roadway and crashed into a guard rail at the junction of Highway 61 and Interstate 70 West. Three motorists died in the crash, while a fourth victim was hospitalized with critical injuries. Officials are currently investigating the incident and should release updates when appropriate.
