About 3,000 Swurfer Kiwi toddler and baby swings have been recalled after the company received six reports of swings’ ropes detaching and creating fall hazards. Though no injuries have been reported, the company has pulled the swings, which retailed for approximately $80, from Swurfer.com, FlyBar.com, Amazon.com, Walmart.com and at nationwide retail outlets, where they were sold from October 2019 through March 2020.
According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the plastic stopper attached to the swing’s rope that holds it in place while in use can detach, causing the rope to slip through the bottom of the swing and come loose.
About 3,000 swings are affected by the recall, and the company says it will repair them for free. The swings are green, blue, or pink in color, and they are meant to attach to a tree branch or swing set. The swing, which measures about 10 inches deep, 15 inches wide, and 20 inches high, weighs approximately 4 pounds and has the words “FlyBar, Inc.” and “Kiwi Swing SSW-0005” printed on the bottom. Date code “August 2019” can be found on the swing back.
