Your home may be harboring the biggest safety risks.
Monday, April 13, 2020 – In 2002, I met a young mother named Linda Kaiser who would forever change my life, and who would ultimately save the lives of countless children. Yet Linda never wanted to be a child safety advocate or a hero, and I have no doubt that she would have chosen a different path if she’d been given a choice.
Just months before our first encounter, Linda’s one-year-old daughter, Cheyenne, who was a twin, had become entangled in the cords of a mini blind — not the one that dangles on the side that most of us know to tie up (as Linda had done), but one of the thick strings that ran vertically through the slats. The cord became tangled around her neck, tightening as Cheyenne struggled. At a time when they should have been scheduling play dates and birthday parties, Linda and her husband Matt had to make funeral arrangements.
The Kaisers first thought their daughter had died in a tragic accident, but as they began connecting with other parents whose lives and dreams were forever altered by dangerous mini blinds, they realized they were victims of an industry that had allowed thousands of children to die or be seriously injured for the sake of profits.
Today, after countless lawsuits (the majority of which were mini blind lawsuits proudly represented by product liability lawyers at OnderLaw ) and years of tireless efforts by Linda and other parents to put pressure on the makers of mini blinds, the tide is turning. The industry has been forced to improve safety, but until not one more parent has to bury their child due to dangerous mini blinds, neither Linda nor I will stop fighting.
Mini blinds aren’t the only problematic product taking young lives. From dangerous baby sleepers to bad baby formula, faulty furniture products, dangerous children’s toys, and defective baby carriers, OnderLaw has been holding companies accountable by hitting them in the only place that seems to matter to them — in their profits.
After years of representing families like the Kaisers, we’ve come to realize that all-too-often, companies that make these products have been aware of the problems for months or years before they make them safer. In some cases, as with mini blinds, hundreds if not thousands of lives were lost before someone like us — with the help of people like you — have held them accountable.
Companies only change course when their payouts dig deeply into their profits, and when public awareness of what they’re doing begins to paint a damaging picture. Unfortunately, it almost always takes legal action to make that happen.
Our team of experienced, knowledgeable attorneys has fought for and won justice for families like the Kaisers for nearly two decades, and we are considered by our legal peers across the country to be expert personal injury attorneys and wrongful death lawyers. For us, it’s about doing what’s right, and giving an effective voice to families who have suffered the ultimate loss so that others can be spared.
OnderLaw works on a contingency basis, meaning we don’t get paid unless you win your claim. If your child has been injured or killed by a defective household or children’s product, the personal injury attorneys at OnderLaw care.
