Distracted driver hits ditch, Nissan overturns multiple times

ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, MO – A 25-year-old driver became distracted by his cell phone causing his 2013 Nissan Pathfinder to hit a ditch and overturn multiple times on Missouri 47 on Saturday night.

Russell T. McWilliams was traveling east on Missouri 47 when he became distracted while using his cell phone, Missouri State Highway Patrol reports. The Nissan traveled off the road, hit a ditch, and overturned several times. MSHP reports the accident happened west of Airport Road around 6:10 p.m.

McWilliams was transported to Parkland Health Center North for minor injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.

The Nissan was totaled.
