GLADDEN, MO (DENT COUNTY) – A man from Oklahoma was killed after crashing into an animal in the road in Dent County yesterday morning, according to a crash report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The accident happened on Highway 19, about 10 miles south of Salem and two and a half miles northwest of Gladden at 11:40 a.m.
71-year-old Stephen O. Gayle, of Cleveland, Oklahoma, was driving a 2015 Kawasaki ZG1400 motorcycle when he collided with a deer crossing the road.
Gayle was ejected from the motorcycle, then airlifted to Cox Hospital in Springfield. There, he was pronounced dead at 2:47 p.m.
Gayle was wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.
No other injuries were reported in the collision.
