Holsters Recalled Due to Safety Issues

Browning, Mystery Ranch, and Blackhawk gun holsters have been recalled in recent months due to safety issues, including the potential for straps to become loose, or for the safety mechanism to accidentally be switched off.

Browning Multi-Age Thumb Break Leather Holsters

In the most recent recall, about 1,265 Browning Multi-Angle Thumb Break leather pistol holsters have been found to pose a risk for changing the position of the safety switch without the user’s knowledge. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “When this occurs, if the trigger is accidentally pulled, the firearm could fire unexpectedly, posing an injury hazard to the user and bystanders.”

Multi-Age Thumb Break holsters are leather brown in color with yellow stitching. They have the trademark Browning buckmark logo branded on the front. They were designed to accommodate Browning 1911-380 and 1911-22 pistols, and were sold at sporting goods stores nationwide and online from September 2017 until December 2019 for about $80 each.

Recalled holsters are Item No. 12904011 with UPC Code #023614843702, which can be found on the back of the product packaging.

According to the CPSC, Browning has received one report of the holster changing position of the safety. No injuries have been reported.

Blackhawk T-Series L2C black hard plastic belt-clip holsters designed to be used with Sig Sauer P320/P250 civilian firearms have been recalled because the holster’s design can cause the position of the safety switch to move without the user’s knowledge. According to the CPSC, “When this occurs, if the trigger is pulled the gun could fire unexpectedly, posing an injury hazard to the user and bystander.”

Recalled holsters were sold sporting goods stores across the United States, including Bass Pro Shops, June through August, 2019, for about nationwide and online from June 2019 through August 2019 for about $65. They are printed with code 2101213 A on the outside.
