One dead, one in critical condition after early morning house fire

ST. LOUIS, MO – One woman has died and one man is hospitalized after a house fire that broke out Wednesday morning on Idaho Avenue, as reported by FOX2NOW.

A two-story brick house caught fire in the Dutchtown neighborhood. The fire began around 6:00 a.m.

The man was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition. A St. Louis firefighter also received minor injuries combating the fire.

The St. Louis Fire Department’s Chief, Dennis Jenkerson, reported the home lacked any working smoke detectors.

The fire is under investigation for arson.
